Privacy Policy

Photofinch turns a photo you choose into a painting. We collect as little as possible to do that, and we don’t sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers. This policy explains what we handle and why.
What we process
- The photo you submit. When you create a painting, your photo is sent to our backend and to our AI image providers to paint the artwork. We keep the photo and the painting for one week so we can fix problems and improve Photofinch, then delete them (a painting you order or share is kept to make and show it). We do not use your photos to train AI models.
- Your paintings. Stored so we can show your gallery and, if you order a print, produce the high-resolution version.
- Order & shipping details. If you order a print or cards, the name, email and shipping address you enter, and the painting you ordered, are shared with our printer, Burton & Mayer, and the shipping software they use (ShipStation) solely to produce and deliver your order and email you tracking.
- Requests and feedback. If you request a piece before ordering opens, we keep the email you give, the piece you chose and that painting, only to tell you when ordering opens. If you send feedback, we keep your note (and your email, if you add one) to improve Photofinch and reply.
- Purchases. The Studio Pass is processed by Apple. Orders for prints, frames and cards are paid through Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. We never see or store your full card number.
- A device identifier. Photofinch works without an account using an anonymous identifier, kept on your device or in your browser, so your free portraits and gallery stay with you.
- How the app and site are used. We measure which pages and screens are used, which styles people choose, and where people get stuck, so we can improve Photofinch. This uses PostHog, tied to the anonymous identifier, not to your name. On the web we also use your network address to limit free portraits per network. We don’t record what you type or the photos you add.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run Photofinch: OpenRouter, Meta and Google (painting and checking photos), Apple and Stripe (payments), Burton & Mayer and ShipStation (printing and shipping), PostHog (product analytics), Cloudflare (the website and its bot protection) and our hosting provider. Each receives only what it needs for its task. We do not sell personal data, and we use no advertising trackers.
